Gisele Bündchen to Model Just Weeks After Having Baby

Here's a StyleList New Year's prediction: Supermodel Gisele Bündchen frantically pushing a baby jogger while nibbling on a carrot stick.

How else can you explain the news that Mrs. Tom Brady plans to step in front of the camera scant weeks after the Dec. 8 delivery of her first child, son Benjamin Brady?

We haven't even had time to pick out a baby gift for the celebrity couple and already Bündchen has a new due date. This time with fashion photographer David Sims, who was hired to shoot Gisele for the Brazilian sportswear line Colcci; the supermodel has a contract with the brand.

The Boston Herald is reporting that the shoot will take place at the end of the month in Beantown, where Brady has a standing gig as NFL Quarterback for the New England Patriots (and is resident hottie).

We suspect there's already a recovery team calling the shots for Bündchen; maybe a trainer, a nutritionist, a nanny (or two). If she's too sleep deprived to stick with the program, maybe her postpartum girth will get the same Photoshop treatment her baby bump got in the London Fog ads.

And while we want to imagine her sweating out this shoot, it's likely the genetically blessed supermodel is one of those lucky few who just immediately morphs back into her pre-pregnancy self. Heidi Klum has certainly exhibited that trait.

However, don't expect Bündchen to be as busy as Klum has been since she had her most recent child. The former left a holiday message to fans after Benjamin's birth stating that she is enjoying the "happy time in my life."

And an associate of the model's told People magazine, "It wouldn't surprise me if she [Gisele] gives up most of the business." (Apparently, she's not quitting her day job just yet.)

German fashion mag bans MODELS!

We know there’s a recession on, but will Kate Moss, Lily Cole and Jourdan Dunn all be joining the misery queues outside the job centre this year? Well they will if German magazine Brigitte’s new casting policy catches on in a big way.

Last year saw designer Mark Fast put plus sized girls on his catwalk, V magazine is currently showcasing plus-size model Crystal Renn, the Guardian's Weekend magazine regularly pictures models aged up to 70 in its shoots and, this week, Grazia’s cover girl is 44-year-old Sadie Frost!

Now one of Germany’s best-selling women’s titles has responded to 20,000 reader complaints about super-skinny models on fashion pages by using only non-models (selected from readers who applied to be featured) in its January issue. A receptionist, a teacher and a restaurant owner have all been styled and made up to replace the usual agency fare, who, according to the editor Andreas Lebert, were sometimes so slight they needed a bit of photoshopping to beef them up.

Fashion’s favourite pantomime villain, Chanel overlord Karl Lagerfeld, infamously declared last year, 'Nobody wants to see a round woman,' and that anyone who criticises thin models is 'a fat, chip-eating mummy' (!) Meanwhile, there will surely be others who say that by using slim, young, pretty readers as models, Brigitte doesn’t go far enough. What’s to be done?

Let’s remember that fashion is a business, so if designers and editors see their products rise in popularity due to a particular choice of model, then they are likely to promote (or at least include) that vision rather than one that their customers complain about. Voilà! Exhibit A: this week’s Grazia, where an un-retouched Sadie Frost bares everything! And she’s (albeit a very glam) working mum of four.

Just spare a thought for those poor professional models, though. They have been chosen for their slim shape – they didn’t ask for the industry to be this way. Now what will happen? Will they all have to move in with Karl at the Chanel mansion when they can no longer afford to pay the rent? [independent]

Ungaro Upset

LINDSAY LOHAN has run into yet more criticism following her artistic advisor debut at the house of Emanuel Ungaro - this time from Mr Emanuel Ungaro, the original designer himself.

According to INDEPENDENT.CO.UK, Ungaro - who retired from the label in 2004 - this week told local press at an international film festival in Estoril, near Lisbon, that the actress' "collaboration was a disaster".

"I am furious but I can't do anything about it," the designer said, noting that he feared the fashion house was "in the process of losing its soul".

"This happens to a lot of designers, we were the creators and patrons, responsible for the creation and destiny of our houses. But when we gave up our houses, we gave up our soul," he added.

Just last month Giambattista Valli, former director at Ungaro, confessed how he, too, was unimpressed with Lohan's efforts. He told The Daily: "An actress ought to be an actress, and a fashion designer ought to be a fashion designer. These are their own professions, so everybody ought to concentrate on one thing. I chose, in my life, to be a fashion designer."

Meanwhile, Lohan seems unfazed - having told Sunday Times: "Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I didn't expect everyone to be completely loving the collection."

ADA ZANDITON, Christopher Raeburn, Goodone, Minna, Nina Dolcetti and The North Circular have been selected as the designers to benefit from the British Fashion Council's new Eco Fashion Mentor Programme.

With the aim to increase opportunities for ethical designers in the mainstream fashion market, the initiative is supported by the London Development Agency. Three industry mentors - brand consultants Susanne Tide-Frater, Yasmin Sewell and buying consultant Bev Malik - will offer advice and support, play an active role with the brands' development and help edit the designers' displays at London Fashion Week.

"I am delighted to contribute to delivering a 360-degree support to estethica's mentoring scheme in its aim to involve ethical fashion stars in London," says Malik.

Founded four years ago by the British Fashion Council, estethica works to showcase the work of designers committed to working eco-sustainably and all designers who showcase have to adhere to at least one of the principles of fair trade, organic or recycling practise

"Introducing this expert mentoring scheme is very important to the British Fashion Council and we strongly believe that it will assist these businesses to strengthen their collections to compete in the mainstream," says Caroline Rush, joint chief executive of the British Fashion Council.

Let's be realistic, no matter how big or small you are, you should be able to look, feel and dress like a model depend on how you carry yourself. That's what we call fashion. With FASHION designer clothing you don't need to preoccupy yourself by thinking you are too skinny, your butt is so big, you have a small or big breast. Keep in mind that nobody is perfect. Those supermodel we idolize think how many rice cake they drop. HOURGLASS SHAPE

When we speak and think about fashion immediately the first thing that comes in our mind are fashion designers and clothes etc. Fashion designers are considered as a celebrities and they tried to become a celebrities because of fame that attached on their names. Therefore, if you want to digg fortune and wanted fame you have to be a designer first because once you reach fame - you are an instant celebrity as well. However, we all know that many are called but few are chosen. Most of the designers responded to this economic recession by looking back, not looking forward. We have seen on the runways & catwalks the retro. Marc Jacobs Fall 2009 RTW show was mostly 80’s inspired- it's like I feel singing the uptown girl imagining myself wearing an overblown cocktail dress.Other luxury designer clothing brands like Bottega Veneta Fall 2009 is so classically simple but sexy, sultry and erotic with corseting and underwires that drew attention to the breasts in a sophisticated and fashionable way. Thomas Maier succeded to block out the doldrums of the recession by creating a chic and attractive designer clothes. Geezzzzzzzz... I wonder what a liquor maker are thinking at the moment. Durn... these designers won't stick on clothes- they even invade now the liquors. We all know that these designers are highly regarded with their creative clothes collection but I what about.... the drinks? Well, these designer knows that drinking will always stay in style. Surely, this is fun because these designers had a chance of experimenting not only in the wardrobe but in the bar as well. This time they are OFF in the runway and they are IN in the bar.

Designers like Tory, Ralph and Marc designed vintage inspired cocktails -Marc Jacobs created an updated mint julep which he called the Marc Mint Martini, while Ralph Lauren put together crushed rasberries, rum, lemon and lime juice to arrive at the delightful Ralph Rasberry Rum Punch. Tory Burch’s bevvie, the Tikki Tini, is the loudest with blends of tropical fruits like mango and pineapple. They’re going to be serving them up at NYC bar Local 138. If you want to find some refreshment you can check it out at the Local 138 located at 138 Ludlow Street, between Rivington and Stanton. I'm pretty sure all those fashionistas in New York will be flocking in at the bar in the Lower East Side to taste the Local 138's summer cocktail menu.
